Otherwise, like Elliot said, they go in a moderation queue. There are other good options where you can have only your registered folks comment. Even more than that there are a ton of great black listed words to add into the comment filter. There's even an option that if someone posts more than 'x' number of hyperlinks in the comment body, then that gets held in a queue too. The WP options really are endless.
