Things might look a little messy today 12:04 pm

Things might look a little (or really) messy today, but I have good news:

I just saved a ton of money on my car insurance. And, I’m upgrading to WordPress 2.0 so that I can start coding my new design (yes, I’ve actually designed a new look for this place).

update: The upgrade is done, and all looks well! Though please let me know if you notice anything not working correctly.

  • EngLee January 14th, 2006 @ 10:13 pm (#)

I supposed there’s a trackback bug in WP 2.0. Find out about it and fix it.

  • Elliot Swan January 14th, 2006 @ 11:34 pm (#)

@EngLee: I’ve heard of the one on WP 1.5.1 about trackback URLs being incorrect if a post has been saved as a draft or something like that (I believe I read that on your blog), but I don’t know of one in 2.0…mind giving me some more info on that?

  • EngLee January 15th, 2006 @ 12:37 am (#)

A search on “Google for Wordpress 2.0 trackback problem” would provide you with all the details you might need.

That’s the reason I’m still using WP 1.5. I’m just too lazy to find and fix those bugs. I don’t understand why WP is not fixing it.

  • Elliot Swan January 15th, 2006 @ 8:31 pm (#)

@EngLee: Thanks for that…It appears mine isn’t having problems and is doing trackbacks fine, so that’s good news.

  • EngLee January 15th, 2006 @ 8:42 pm (#)

Does that means that WP has fixed it and we should be able to see some differences in the code? I wonder. I’ll take a look at it. If that’s the case, I’ll upgrade mine as well!

  • Elliot Swan January 15th, 2006 @ 8:49 pm (#)

It seems it doesn’t happen for everybody. Apparently there is also a patch out for it.

    Here’s some info I found:

[Solved] Unable to trackback for wordpress 2.0
    Trackbacks broken in 2.0

  • EngLee January 15th, 2006 @ 9:09 pm (#)

Great. I’ll share my experience if I’ve any problem after upgrading. Thanks for the links.

Cool. You might’ve already seen this, but incase you haven’t here’s a great guide for upgrading WordPress 1.5 to 2.0: Upgrading WordPress

If you’ve got an older version, you might have to upgrade to 1.5 first…

  • EngLee January 15th, 2006 @ 9:18 pm (#)

I’ve gone thru that. It’s a MUST-READ for them who wants to upgrade!

  • Elliot Swan January 15th, 2006 @ 9:19 pm (#)

    Indeed it is. :)

I'm a nice guy, so I'll let you use basic XHTML such as <a>, <strong>, <em>, <blockquote>, and <code>. If you're trying to share some code with us, just make sure to run it through Postable first.
