Akismet 10:46 pm

Well I finally activated Akismet today. As some of you know, I’d been holding off because I didn’t really like the idea of my comments being ran through a third party–But I’ve gotten so much spam this past week it’s almost unbelievable, so I’ve come to conclude that anything that will stop this is a good thing.

Good for you man! You’ll get really used to having Akismet blocking everything. It’s pretty awesome.

me too! I switched Akismet on the weekend because I was SOOOO sick of getting emails telling me there was more comment spam.
So far, my assessment is that Akismet is brilliant and everyone should use it right now

    :)

Nothing has gotten through yet, and it’s only eaten one track back accidentally.

I’ve been pretty lucky with my little one letter validation thing on jasongraphix.com…and I’m using Movable Type there too, so Akismet wouldn’t work anywho. I’m sure amesnjas.com will need some spam prevention eventually, but I haven’t gotten the first spam on it. Perhaps when that day comes I’ll try it out there.

Hey, your blog is so great. Why not buy some herbal viagra?

  • Elliot Swan April 20th, 2006 @ 9:21 am (#)

@Jason: Yeah, I thought that the letter validation was a pretty cool idea, but if I thought that if I can find a way to block spam without the user having to do anything extra, I’m going with that first.

@Glen: Crap, so much for Akismet. Actually, your comment did get caught in moderation as you tripped off my spam words list. :P

I really like Akismet. I does its job extremely well… kinda like WP.
